President Trump and Rep. Omar renew Twitter battle

Trump retweeted the claims of a supporter that Omar danced on 9/11 after hijacked planes struck the Twin Towers.

WASHINGTON — They're at it again.

The Twitter back-and-forth between President Trump and Rep. Ilhan Omar resumed Wednesday with Trump retweeting the claims of a supporter that Omar danced on 9/11 after hijacked planes struck the Twin Towers. That supporter attached a video of Omar dancing, allegedly from that infamous day.

Trump then went on to say that Omar, a member of a group the president has named AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) Plus 3, will win Republicans "the Great State of Minnesota" in 2020. "The new face of the Democrat Party!," he tweeted.

The tweet from Trump's supporter was later pulled down after the video was proven to be bogus.

Omar replied by saying that the video clip was actually from an event last weekend organized to celebrate black women in congress and accused the president of spreading lies 'that put her life at risk.'

Social media spats have become the norm for Rep. Omar and President Trump, whose feuding seems to both aggravate and energize their respective supporters. They have traded barbs on everything from a crowd at a Trump rally chanting "Send her back!!" to Omar being banned from a planned trip to Israel.

Reactions to this latest episode on KARE's Facebook page range from predictably partisan to obviously frustrated. Many who posted feel that both should spend more time working on policies that would improve the lives of Americans than sparring on social media.

"Enough is enough," posted Beth Zaudke. "Maybe our society will grow up if the leader of our country and the politicians will start acting their age."
