Gophers women's basketball team defeats Northern Iowa in WNIT opener

MINNEAPOLIS — Gophers head coach Lindsay Whalen is 1-0 in the postseason after her team defeated Northern Iowa 91-75 in the opening round of the WNIT at Williams Arena on Friday night.

Minnesota was led by sophomore Destiny Pitts with 29 points, it's her eighth straight game with at least 20 points.

The Gophers head to Cincinnati to face the Bearcats on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the second round of the WNIT.
