ROSEVILLE, Minn. — It's a tradition unlike any other - in Minnesota.
For a fifth year, the Girls Hockey Outdoor Classic took place at the Roseville Oval. It was hosted by former Golden Gopher and Whitecap Winny Brodt-Brown.
Over 70 teams and around 800 girls participated in the event on Saturday.
"Pond hockey is really where the kids get their creativity," Brodt-Brown said. She credits these roots in Roseville to taking her far in her career.
The tournament had 12 different matches on the ice at once and various other activities for players and spectators to take part in.
