If you thought winter was in the rear view mirror, the morning commute was confirmation that is NOT the case.

ROSEVILLE, Minn. - You'd figure with all the snow we had this winter Minnesotans would have this driving in snow thing down.

Hardly.

The late winter weather system that began crawling into the state early Monday afternoon has been dropping snow across most of Minnesota, creating treacherous conditions on roads. Between 8:45 p.m. Monday and 8:45 p.mm. Tuesday Minnesota State Troopers responded to 421 crashes statewide (31 injuries, 0 fatalities), with another 402 vehicles either spun out or off the road.

Troopers also handled 15 jacknifed semis.

MnDOTs Twitter feed was littered with crashes and spinouts from the start of morning rush hour through mid-afternoon.

More than 100 school districts, most in the southern part of the state, called off class for the day.

The snow is expected to continue until approximately 9 p.m. Tuesday, and could be heavy at times. MnDOT has its army of plows on the road trying to keep up with the unseasonal precipitation.
