Breakfast favorite for mom on Mother's Day

James Beard-recognized chef and Cupcake Wars winner Alicia Hinze, the Buttered Tin Restaurant & Bakery owner, joined KARE 11 with a great recipe.

ST PAUL, Minn. — Mother's Day is coming up and one of the many nice things to do for mom is giving her the morning off by making her breakfast.

James Beard-recognized chef and Cupcake Wars winner Alicia Hinze, the Buttered Tin Restaurant & Bakery owner, joined KARE 11 with a favorite recipe.

RECIPE: Buttered Tin Homemade Pancakes

DRY MIX:

 6 cups flour

 1 cup cornmeal

 2 tsp baking powder

 2 tsp salt

 1/3 cup sugar

WET MIX:

 2 tsp clarified butter

 1.5 cups buttermilk

 2 eggs

 2 tsp vanilla

  • Combine and whisk well all of the liquid ingredients.
  • Add 2 cups of the dry mix and whisk.
  • Do not whisk until smooth, it should be a little lumpy.

The Buttered Tin Restaurant & Baker has two locations. The original in Lowertown of St. Paul opened in 2013 and in 2021 the second restaurant-bakery popped up in Northeast Minneapolis.
