Events happening for the entire family Saturday at the Twin Cities Marathon weekend

From the Diaper Dash, Toddler Trot, KARE 11 Family Mile, and more, there is something for everyone

ST PAUL PARK, Minn. — The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon brings an entire weekend of lively events to get the community active and outside. The Saturday events are especially catered to families with varying distances to run, walk or crawl, all leading up to the Medtronic Twin Cities 10-Mile and Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 6. You can still register today for all the fun!  Here is a list of the all activities happening this Saturday. 

KARE 11 Family Mile - 10:00 a.m. at the State Capitol Grounds

The Mile starts and ends on John Ireland Boulevard, near the State Capitol. Everyone has a place at this race no matter their age or speed! Walkers and runners of all ages are invited to participate in this 12th year of the Family Mile. Participants receive a medal and shirt.

Half Mile, Presented by KS95 - 10:30 a.m. at the State Capitol Grounds

The Half Mile starts and ends on John Ireland Boulevard, near the State Capitol. This event helps even young kids get a taste of race day excitement as they will get to cross the same finish line as the 10-Mile and Marathon runners will Sunday! Participants receive a medal and shirt.

Harry & Shelly’s Mascot Invitational - 11:00 a.m. at the State Capitol Grounds

Kids of all ages will love Harry & Shelly’s Mascot Invitational! Don’t miss this Saturday event featuring your favorite mascots running for the finish line in a race all their own. Twin Cities In Motion’s mascots, Harry and Shelly, and all their friends will be available for hugs and photos before and after the race too. Come cheer for the mascots!

Diaper Dash - 11:15 a.m. at the State Capitol Grounds

This "competitive" crawl on the State Capitol lawn is perfect for little ones still on their hands and knees. Participants in the Diaper Dash crawl from an inner circle to a slightly larger outer circle, where his or her loving parents are waiting. Little ones in this race receive a race bib and participant gift.

Toddler Trot - 11:30 a.m. at the State Capitol Grounds

Approximately 50 yards long, the Toddler Trot takes place on the lawn of the State Capitol grounds. This race will run in waves starting with 1-year-olds and finishes with the 4-year-olds! Your little ones will receive a race bib, participant shirt and medal.
