ST PAUL, Minn. — Two people were booked into the Ramsey County jail on suspicion of murder following a fatal shooting at a home in St. Paul's Hamline-Midway neighborhood early Monday.

Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Ernster said police received a 911 call at around 1:45 a.m. from a female resident on the 1300 block of Englewood Avenue claiming an intruder who was known to her was inside the home. Ernster shared that a male resident then got on the phone and said he had fired multiple shots, hitting the alleged intruder in the front porch area of the home.

A second 911 call then came in from a man who told dispatchers he was dying, then didn't respond to questions.

When officers arrived, they found a man shot on the front porch of the home. He was transported to Regions Hospital and died hours later from his injuries.

On Tuesday the victim was identified by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office as 35-year-old Drew Johnson of St. Paul.

Ernster said the female and male who spoke to dispatchers during the first 911 call refused to interview with investigators, so after consulting with the Ramsey County Attorney's Office the two were arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of murder charges. She is 35 years old, while the man is 30.

Investigators are continuing to look into the details leading up to the shooting.
