Police in LaCrosse, Wis. are looking for a young suspect who sucker-punched a man going to work early Sunday.

LA CROSSE, Wis. — The attack was so brazen, so despicable, that LaCrosse Police took the step of moving their regularly featured "Wanted Wednesday" Facebook post to Monday in an attempt to identify and arrest the man behind it.

Investigators are hoping someone will recognize the young suspect, who on the morning of Sunday, September 22, approached a man arriving for work at Rudy's drive-in on LaCrosse Street just before 4 a.m. The suspect walks up to the victim, engages in a short conversation and then out of nowhere, knocks him sprawling with an unexpected punch to the face.

The man behind the "unprovoked" attack is described as a younger college-aged white male, wearing a grey or light blue polo shirt with a stripe, khaki shorts and white Nike tennis shoes.

Police say the victim gave the department permission to post the video, hoping his assailant will be caught and prosecuted.

If you know the person behind this attack, call LaCrosse Police at 608-789-7240. You can also contact La Crosse Area Crime Stoppers at 608-784-TIPS or submit information online.
