Double shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 injured in North Minneapolis

A man found shot in an alley on the 2300 block of Oak Park Ave. was rushed to the hospital, while another man transported by private vehicle did not survive.

MINNEAPOLIS — One man is dead and another person is hospitalized following a shooting incident overnight Thursday that appears to involve two separate scenes in North Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police said in a news release that they responded to reports of a shooting on the 800 block of Russell Ave. N. Officers responding to the scene found a man in his 20s shot and lying in an alley on the 2300 block of Oak Park Ave., a short distance from the site of the reported shooting. That man was transported to HCMC with injuries reported as life-threatening.

Police say a second man in his 20s arrived at HCMC in a passenger vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. That man did not survive.

Investigators said in the release they believe that the two men knew each other. At this point police have made no arrests.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office released the name of the victim as Marcus David Williams, 28, of Minneapolis. He died from multiple gunshot wounds, officials said on Saturday.

This story is developing and will be updated as more information is available.
