MINNEAPOLIS — Two Delta planes clipped wings while on a taxiway at MSP International Airport Thursday, requiring both jets to return to their gates.
Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) spokesperson Michael Schommer confirms that the two aircraft made contact just before 11 a.m. There were no injuries reported, but both planes returned to the terminal so passengers could disembark.
Delta spokesman Drake Castaneda says the two planes involved were Airbus A320s, one headed to Tucson, AZ, and the other to Palm Beach, FL. Initial reports say contact was made while one of the aircraft was being pushed back from the gate.
Castaneda says Delta teams are currently working to get passengers to their intended destinations, and apologized for the delay in their travels.
The airline is in the process of investigating the events that led to the incident.
