10 people hurt in 3 shootings near St. Paul

Officials said shots were fired at Casey Lake Park on Saturday night and Crosby Farm Park early Sunday morning.

NORTH ST PAUL, Minn. — Ten people were injured after shots were fired at two graduation parties and one other gathering in the St. Paul area this weekend, police said.

The first call came in around 10:45 p.m. Saturday. Officers responded to 17th Avenue near Casey Lake Park in North St. Paul on a report of an assault involving shots fired, officials said in a press release. Multiple departments responded to the scene, including the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol and officers from six nearby police forces.

Officers said a group gathered at the park for a graduation party and, while they were there, shots were fired and four people were injured. They were treated at the hospital for their injuries.

A mother of one of the victims said her son was shot in the leg. He will be okay, but she said it's taken a toll on her sense of safety during a celebratory season for graduates.

Then just before 1 a.m. Sunday, the St. Paul Police Department (SPPD) said three women were injured at another gathering at Crosby Farm Park. Two of the women had gunshot wounds and the third had a hand injury police said could be a graze wound. Law enforcement said they believe these two shootings could be related.

A third shooting happened on Sunday night around 8 p.m. at a graduation party near Rose Avenue East and Breen Street in St. Paul.

SPPD said it was a drive-by shooting involving a black SUV. A man and two women were hit and are now being treated at Region's Hospital.

No arrests have been made in any of the three shootings. Anyone with information on these incidents should call SPPD's non-emergency line at 651-291-1111.
