At least 1 dead in western Wisconsin crash

According to the sheriff, the fatal collision happened on Highway 95 near County Road J in Dewhurst Township, about 50 miles southeast of Eau Claire.

CLARK COUNTY, Wis. — The Clark County Sheriff's Office is reporting at least one person died as the result of a crash Friday morning in western Wisconsin.

According to the sheriff, the fatal collision happened on Highway 95 at the intersection with County Road J in Dewhurst Township, about 50 miles southeast of Eau Claire. Authorities said their initial investigation showed a semi-trailer traveling east on 95 was approaching the intersection when it struck a van traveling northbound through the intersection.  

As of 2 p.m., the highway remained closed, and officials ask the public to avoid the area.

No other details were immediately released.
