Police respond to fatal shooting at Edina strip mall

Officials said it appears the suspect and victim knew each other.

EDINA, Minn. — Police said a man was fatally shot in the parking lot of an Edina strip mall on Saturday night. 

Officials said in a press release that officers were called to a strip mall parking lot in the 3500 block of West 70th Street around 9 p.m. Saturday. 

Officers found a man with life-threatening injuries when they arrived on the scene. Edina paramedics and police worked to save him, but he died at the scene. Officials identified the man as 23-year-old Darien Jamal Roberson of St. Paul.

The shooting suspect remained on scene, officials said, and was arrested. Preliminary information from police indicates the suspect and victim knew each other.
