NORTHOME, Minn. — A head-on collision killed three and left two people with life-threatening injuries in Koochiching County on Sunday.

A Chevy Silverado was driving west on Highway 1 and a Ford F-150 was driving east when the two crashed in Northome just after 11 a.m., according to a post on the Minnesota State Patrol website.

There were four men between ages 24-26 in the Chevy. Driver Riley Scheidecker, of Bloomer, Wis., died. Two passengers in the Silverado suffered life-threatening injuries and the third received non-life-threatening injuries. The three men were transported to Bemidji and Fargo Hospitals, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Troopers say both men in the Ford F-150 died in the crash. They are identified as driver Joseph Carlson and passenger John Corazzo, both 27 years old.

The State Patrol said it was unknown if alcohol was involved. The Chevy passengers who were most seriously injured were not wearing seatbelts.
