Gunshot victim identified as 60-year-old Minneapolis man

Officials identified the man as 60-year-old Donald Edmondson of Minneapolis.

MINNEAPOLIS —  Minneapolis officials have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that took place Friday on the city's north side.

Officers arrived at an apartment building on the 2600 block of W Broadway Ave. around 3 p.m. on reports of a shooting, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.

Upon arrival at a residence in the building, the MPD officers found 60-year-old Donald Edmondson suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Edmondson, of Minneapolis, died at the scene despite life-saving efforts by first responders. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner ruled Monday that the death was a homicide and a gunshot wound was the cause.

MPD officers said they canvassed the area but no arrests have been made.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
