Chisago County sheriff's officials are urging motorists to slow down and use care after a morning filled with two crashes and a pursuit.

CHISAGO COUNTY, Minn. — An eventful morning on the roads of Chisago County is prompting sheriff's officials to remind residents to slow down and exercise caution, especially with winter ahead.

The department posted on its Facebook page that deputies responded to two serious crashes Wednesday morning. The first involved a motorist who lost control of their vehicle, went off the road and crashed into a tree. That person had to be extricated from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries.

Also Wednesday morning, a driver rolled their vehicle with a child incorrectly buckled into a car seat. "It's incredible that child had only minor injuries and wasn’t ejected from the vehicle. If so, this would have been a far worse morning," the post read.

While deputies were dealing with the crashes, another call came in reporting a stolen vehicle in Harris that triggered a pursuit up and down I-35 between North Branch and Rush City. The incident ended when a deputy executed a PIT maneuver, spinning the stolen vehicle out. A suspect was taken into custody.

It's pretty clear by the tone of the Facebook message the sheriff had seen enough.

It was not a good morning on our roads! We responded to two serious crashes. The one in this picture involved a driver...

"Winter is here! Drive slower. Make sure your kids car seats are installed and used properly. Don’t leave keys in your vehicle when you run into the gas station to grab that coffee. Even if it’s a couple a minutes," the post pleaded.
