St. Paul cave explorers find dead body

St. Paul Fire responded to the call Wednesday after the urban explorers discovered the human remains in a "confined space."

ST PAUL, Minn — St. Paul authorities are investigating after urban explorers found the remains of a dead person while exploring caves on Wednesday.

The St. Paul Fire Department shared in a news release that the explorers were in some caves near the intersection of Eagle Parkway and Exchange St. when they discovered the body in a "confined space" and called 911.

After paramedics arrived to confirm the person was deceased, fire officials called in the Advanced Technical Rescue Team (ATR) to enter the space, secure the individual and carefully hoist them to the surface. Crews were on scene for over two and a half hours as the recovery unfolded.

St. Paul Police are now investigating to determine how that person died.
