Hopkins hoop star Liv McGill celebrates McDonald's All-American selection

McGill is the third Hopkins player in the last four years to be a McDonald's All-American

HOPKINS, Minn. — Hopkins senior basketball player, Liv McGill, celebrated her McDonald's All-American selection on Wednesday night at the McDonald's on Shady Oak Road in Minnetonka.

McGill is the third Hopkins player to get the prestigious selection in just four years and the 22nd all-time from the Twin Cities. The 5 feet 8 inch guard has averaged 14 points, three assists and two steals per game in her first three seasons as a Royal.

"This was one of my goals, and I always wanted to accomplish it, so just to be elected as a McDonald's All-American, it feels great," said McGill. "I don't think it really hit me yet, but I'm not done yet. There's still a lot more I'd like to accomplish, but just to sit back and be honored and have people notice that I accomplished this goal, it feels good."

McGill is committed to playing the next season at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She is the highest ranked recruit to commit to the Gators program, but she said before she gets to the next level she has business to finish this season as a Hopkins Royal.
