Jessie Diggins gets podium finish in Minneapolis

Diggins finished in third place in the Women's Interval Start 10K event on the World Cup stage.

MINNEAPOLIS — Afton-native Jessie Diggins returned to Minnesota and ended with a podium finish in the Stifel Loppet Cup.

Diggins finished in third place in the Women's Interval Start 10K event on the World Cup stage.

"Thank you team, thank you Loppet Cup," she posted on Instagram.

Diggins finished the event with a time of 23:10.7, which was a little more than 30 seconds from first-place finisher Jonna Sundling from Sweden.

Sundling and Frida Karlsson, also from Sweden, finished the race in first and second place with times of 22:28.9 and 22:54:3 respectively.

"The last time I raced in Minnesota I was 19 years old and I'm 32 now. So, it's been a long time representing our state and our country around the world, and this is the first time I get to do this at home," said Diggins before the event.

American Gus Schumacher won the Men's event with a time of 20:52.7.
