Twins continue hit parade, pound Angels 11-5

Minnesota hammered 17 hits in the decisive win, one day after pounding the Angels 16-5. The team's winning streak now sits at seven.

LOS ANGELES — Few things can get a struggling offense back on track like feasting on a sub-par pitching staff.

The once-struggling Twins crushed the ball Sunday in Los Angeles, pounding out 17 hits and routing the Angels 11-5. It was their second straight 17-hit performance, following Minnesota's 16-5 win over LA Saturday.

Ryan Jeffers, José Miranda, Christian Vázquez and Willi Castro each had three hits, while Austin Martin and Alex Kiriloff each drove in a pair of runs. Byron Buxton started in center field and scored three times.

“It feels good that we're getting hits from the whole team,” Miranda told reporters following the game. "Things are starting to come our way. We've got a good stretch going, and we want to keep it rolling."

What a week it's been - seven straight wins to pull the Twins over .500 following a stumbling start to the season. To be fair, the consecutive victories have come in series sweeps against the Angels and the Chicago White Sox, two of MLB's worst ballclubs. The Angels have now lost four straight and nine of their last 10.

Twins pitcher Pablo Lopez appeared to be cruising, setting down 14 straight until the fifth when he surrendered back-to-back homers. Still, he finished the game with eight strikeouts and got the win.

Despite their winning streak, the Twins remain in fourth place in the A.L. Central, behind Cleveland, Kansas City and Detroit.
