Sunday snow leads to hundreds of crashes

217 crashes were reported to State Patrol, including a fatal crash in Eagan.

A slick coating of snow caused hundreds of crashes Sunday across the Twin Cities metro and greater Minnesota.

MINNEAPOLIS — The National Weather Service tweeted Sunday evening that snow from earlier in the day caused hundreds of serious crashes.

State Patrol reported a total of 217 crashes Sunday between the hours of 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

State Patrol investigated a fatal crash in Eagan at Highway 149 and Lone Oak Road. The crash resulted in the death of a 17-year-old girl from Minneapolis. 

There were also reports of a "serious injury crash northbound 35W at 90th Street in Bloomington," according to officials.

The National Weather Service urges drivers to slow down.
