MINNEAPOLIS — Two 15-year-olds are in the hospital - with one reportedly fighting for his life - following a shooting in North Minneapolis.

Minneapolis responded to the 1200 block of 17th Ave. N. shortly after 5 p.m. Monday after ShotSpotter technology indicated multiple gunshots in the area. Responding officers found a 15-year-old boy near Fremont Avenue and he was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Another 15-year-old boy showed up at the hospital separately with gunshot wounds from the incident.

A few blocks from the scene, officers located a stolen Kia riddled with bullet holes. Minneapolis police believe both teens were in that car during the shooting. Earlier in the day, that Kia was reported to be occupied by two masked juveniles driving recklessly and running red lights.

MPD Forensic Scientists responded to process evidence. Police say investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting and any possible connections the stolen Kia or the injured teens may have to other incidents.

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday morning. KARE 11 will continue to update this story as more information is available.
