Single-vehicle crash leaves 1 dead, 1 hospitalized

Police said that preliminary information shows other people involved in the one-vehicle may have walked away from the scene.

MINNEAPOLIS — An early morning crash in Minneapolis sent two men to the hospital where one later died of his injuries, police said. 

In a press release, officials said police arrived in the area around Hiawatha Avenue and 41 Street East around 12:30 a.m. Sunday for a crash involving a single vehicle. Police said the vehicle was on fire when officers arrived. 

Two men were taken to Hennepin County Healthcare. One of them had life-threatening injuries, police said, and later died at the hospital. The other man's injuries were potentially life-threatening police said, and as of Sunday there has been no update provided on his condition. 

No other information about either man has been released by officials at this time. 

Police said preliminary information shows there may have been other people in the car who walked from the crash. Officers searched, utilizing a K9 officer. 

Minneapolis police are trying to determine if this crash was a hit-and-run and if other vehicles may have been involved. 

No arrests have been made, police said.
