Woman pleads for information about man she says killed her sister inside their Linden Hills apartment

Minneapolis Police say the 43-year-old woman was shot Sunday evening and no arrests have been made.

A devastated family is pleading for answers after a woman was shot and killed at a south Minneapolis apartment complex.

Police are calling it a "domestic-related incident" and say that no arrests have been made.

It happened Sunday around 8:20 p.m. at the Cove of Linden Hills complex just west of Lake Harriet. Officers say the victim was a 43-year-old woman. The woman's sister, Kena Johnson, has identified her as Kesha Moore.

While no arrests have been made, police say the incident happened between the woman and her live-in domestic male partner.

"She belonged to people and that impacts our communities," said Guadalupe Lopez, the executive director of Violence Free Minnesota, a group working to end relationship abuse.

Lopez says Moore is the state's 34th victim of intimate partner homicide, which is now nearing the record 37 deaths from 10 years ago. Lopez says fewer advocates having to cover more counties, along with more severe violence, could be attributing to the higher number.

"How do we do this so we don't have any more deaths regarding something that is 100% preventable," asked Lopez. "We all feel it, whether we know this person or not."

Moore's sister tells KARE 11 she was a pillar in the community and owned a business to help others. She's asking for more information on social media about the man she says killed Moore.

KARE 11 does not usually name people if they're not charged with a crime.

Meanwhile, the advocates, like Lopez, are telling everyone to trust their gut and reach out for help if something seems off.

"It's OK to start looking into resources and having those on hand if you think something isn't correct or right," said Lopez.
