Woman struck by first responder after crash in western Minnesota

The State Patrol says 28-year-old Rhiannon Autumn Phillippi had just exited her vehicle when she was hit by a pickup driven by a local fire chief.

SILVER LAKE, Minnesota — A Hutchinson woman is battling for her life after being hit by a first responder vehicle on an accident scene. 

The Minnesota State Patrol website says 28-year-old Rhiannon Autumn Phillippi was involved in a crash on State Highway 7 near Silver Lake around 11 a.m. Saturday. The patrol website says Phillippi had exited her vehicle when she was struck by a SUV driven by 62-year-old Dale Kosek, who is listed on Silver Lake's municipal website as the city's fire chief. 

Phillippi was rushed to North Memorial Medical Center with injuries that are described as life threatening. 

The state patrol is investigating the incident with help from the McLeod County Sheriff's Office.
