Police recover body from pond in Maple Grove

Maple Grove Police didn't identify the person, but said they believe it's connected to a missing person case.

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. — A body was recovered from a pond Thursday afternoon in the area where officials had previously searched for a missing 18-year-old late last month.

Maple Grove Police didn't identify the person, but said they believe it's connected to a missing person case. Officials say investigators are in contact with the family.

"The loss of life is difficult and tragic for any family or community," Maple Grove Police said in a release. "As the investigation continues, further updates will be provided to the community."

The body was found in a pond near 80th Avenue North and Lakeview Drive, the same location where officials searched for Winston Drepaul in late March.

Police said Drepaul left his apartment on the 11800 block of 80th Ave. March 23 on foot without any of his personal belongings, including his medications. He was last seen on video on the 23rd outside the Maple Grove Community Center on Weaver Lake Road.
