COTTONWOOD COUNTY, Minn. — Authorities say they've recovered the body of the 15-year-old boy who went missing while canoeing on Eagle Lake.

According to the Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office, the boy's body was found just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in about 4.5 feet of water. Officials say the body was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office, adding that more information will be released Thursday.

Officials said the teen was canoeing with a family member around 7 p.m. Monday when he jumped into the water to retrieve a lost oar. The 15-year-old tried to return to the canoe, but the wind moved the boat further away. The boy then attempted to swim to shore. The family member lost sight of the teen as they drifted apart.
