Officials identify teen killed at Minneapolis gas station

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said 14-year-old Fa'him Miler died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

MINNEAPOLIS — A teen fatally shot early Friday morning in Minneapolis has been identified by officials.

Fa'him Laron Miller, 14, of Saint Paul, died from a gunshot wound to the chest on Friday, April 26, according to the office of the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

Police said squads were dispatched to the 2600 block of University Ave. NE around 3 a.m. Friday, following reports of shots fired. Arriving officers found the teen lying outside an SUV suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.

They performed medical aid until paramedics arrived and transported the boy to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died three hours later.

"Teenagers, Kias and Hyundais, and guns have become a common recipe for violent crime and tragedy,” said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara in a statement released Friday afternoon. “The death of a teenager out on the street is outrageous and totally unacceptable. The MPD will aggressively investigate this incident to its logical conclusion and do all we can to bring some sense of justice for the victim and his loved ones, but we all must work together to end this trend of youth violence.”

On Friday, Investigators said early information suggested that 14-year-old Miller was in an SUV with other occupants when a second vehicle drove into the gas station parking lot and someone inside opened fire. Police don't believe appears no one else was wounded in the incident.
