MINNEAPOLIS — A driver is dead after a one-car crash on I-94 in Minneapolis early Tuesday that may be related to weather conditions.
The Minnesota State Patrol website says the motorist, 26-year-old Shivnarine Samogan of Minneapolis, was headed north on I-94 approaching Olson Memorial Highway when he lost control of this 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander, swerved across all lanes of traffic and left the roadway. The vehicle eventually struck a light pole and came to a stop.
Overnight rain was heavy at the time, and the pavement was described as wet. Troopers on the scene say Samogan was not wearing a seat belt, and they believe alcohol may have played a factor in the crash.
